Career Development Center receives 'wicked whammy'

No, it's not from an old game show. Wicked whammy is actually spelled "WICDWAMI" and, in career center lingo, it stands for "What Can I Do With A Major In...?"

So... if you have ever wondered what type of job you might get in the future, this is the place to go. You can access WICDWAMI by going to the Norwich Online Community at www.alumni.norwich.edu. Once registered, click on "Career Center" in the left column, then click on "Undergraduate Student Resources." "What can I do with this major" is at the top of the page. Here's what you'll find:

~Over 70 majors to choose from, including; architecture, biology, business, communications, criminal justice, engineering, history and political science and so much more!

~Information about the broad industry areas where you might find employment.

~A list of specific types of employers that would be interested in hiring someone with your major.

~Information about making the most of your major, your academic career and related extracurricular programs.

~General strategies for being successful in your chosen career field. For example, when selecting "history"  Prospective areas of employment include  Information and Strategies include

In addition to providing career ideas for specific majors, this program can also point out other areas of interest you may have and show you how to combine your major with a career-enhancing double major or academic minor. In the example above, a history major who enjoys writing could couple the history degree with English or journalism minors, and then pursue broadcast and print media companies as potential employers.
