Students praise winter carnival
The Winter Carnival held at Norwich University on a late February weekend was a fun time for many students on campus and something that should happen more often, according to a Norwich freshman.
Norwich freshman Bianca Bogda went to the Winter Carnival, and she thought it was a fun thing to have on campus.
Bogda, 19, a biology major from Cranston, R.I., said, "They should have more stuff like this throughout the year, it's better for the kids and the school community because there isn't much else to do."
Bogda participated in a couple of the winter carnival events. Her favorite event was the outdoor skating and bonfire outside the Wise Campus Center. Bogda went to the events with some of her close friends.
"It's good having something like this to take our minds of school for a little while," Bogda said.
There were many events held at the Winter Carnival which included a pageant, trivia game, outdoor skating, bon fire, and a Snowball Dance.
Nicole Terry, 22, a senior communications major from Hanover Mass. attended the dance. She said, "The winter carnival was a lot of fun, the dance was a blast."
Courtney Parisot, 18, a freshman physical education major from Watertown, Conn., said her favorite part of the Winter Carnival was the pageant.
"After watching it, I decided I want to be a participant next year," Parisot said.
Brittany Casey, 19, freshman criminal justice major from Pointe-Claire, Que., thought it was cool how free shirts were given away before the carnival started. It spread awareness of the event, according to Casey.
The Winter Carnival wrapped up in the early hours of Sunday, Feb. 21. The Snowball dance was the last scheduled event for the weekend, which was held in the Rook Dining Hall inside the Wise Campus Center.
