Fuzzy Televisions Annoy Students

When the televisions in the Wise Campus Center (WCC) went fuzzy a few weeks ago, the poor reception affected students trying to watch high definition TV.

"Being from New Hampshire, I'm used to the fuzziness, but when I want to see a good game, I want to see a good game," said Will Peska, a 19-year-old sophomore criminal justice major from Walpole, N.H.

Every television in the WCC, including the televisons in the Mill, the student help desk, the fishbowl and student lounges, were all having technical difficulties.

"Instead of having a good time watching the [Patriots] game with my friends, we were too concerned about how we were going to read the score and be able to see what was going on with the bad picture," said James Lynch, a 19-year-old sophomore business major from Boxford, Mass.

This problem has happened several times in the past. Information Technology Services, or I.T., was notified, according to Peter Herrick, Wise Campus Center Student Building Manager for Staffing and Operations.

"It was something that the contractors had accidentally installed," Herrick said. The problem was that the transvideo cables were having trouble connecting to the WCC, according to Herrick.

"We notified I.T. of the problem and Richard Quelch, I.T. Network Manager, who has helped us out a lot in the past couple of months in dealing with WCC technical issues, has addressed the problem." Herrick said.

The problem has been fixed so students are able to enjoy their favorite programs on a television with a clear image.
