Women's soccer falls short of title
Women's soccer has come to an end as the Cadets lost in the GNAC tournament quarterfinal game against St. Josephs (Maine). The team played well but just came up short in the end as St. Josephs topped off the cadets 3-2. Nikki Szcepanski and star freshman Brittney Casey were the only Cadets to score goals in the final game. "All of the girls played to the best of their ability for the entire game; never giving up and leaving everything they had out there on the field, walking off with no regret," said Brittney Casey, a 19-year-old freshman forward from Pointe-Claire, Quebec. The Cadets kept the score close throughout the game but it wasn't until the 50th minute when St. Josephs was awarded a penalty kick and capitalized on it. "A hard-fought battle with even opportunities but it just happened to be their day" said Bianca Bodga, a 19-year-old freshman from Cranston, R.I. Bianca also plays women's ice hockey. "The team came out strong and put together a great effort, sometimes the ball just doesn't bounce your way, but that's not to say we didn't have a great time even though we are disappointed with the outcome," said Dawn McNulty, a senior captain of the team. The team's record was 8-10-1 coming into the first round of the playoffs. "We are looking forward to coming out next season and putting up some better numbers and winning more division games. Hopefully, we can get this team again and show them what Norwich Soccer is really about, "said Mikella Connery a freshman from Framingham, Mass.
