The Norwich Cadets women’s volleyball team’s season ended after a tough loss to Johnson and Wales in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tournament last week.
The Cadets finished their season with a 17-12 overall record and a 6-6 record in their conference.
“We played really hard this year and hope to build on this for next year,” said Dana Flieger, 20, a junior nursing major from Winsted, Conn.
The Cadets lost their match against Johnson and Wales 3-0 in the quarterfinals of the GNACs by set scores of 25-13, 25-18, and 25-19.
Two players were named to the All-GNAC team last week, senior Lissette Magdelano and junior Molly Rice.
“It’s great that our players are recognized for their play by the conference,” Flieger said.
Magdelano led the cadets this season with 244 kills and 78 blocks and Rice led the team in assists with 577.
The Cadets hope to improve on their record next season as the bulk of the players return for another season.
