To many, a top-of-the-line sound system would be a low-priority expense. For Norwich and the 1,400+ people who attend hockey games it’s something that is meant to make the visit to the one and only Kreitzberg Arena more enjoyable.
The Rink is known to students and fans as one-of-a-kind and one of the most prestigious rinks in Division III hockey. Since the opening of Kreitzberg Arena in 1998 many flock to Norwich home games as a place to cheer on their favorite team. There was only one problem: The fans were unable to interpret anything that was being said over a microphone because the sound system wasn’t fit for a building of that size.
Over the past 12 years the audio system had much wear and tear as well as age and abuse. Constant playing of loud music to fill an arena is strenuous on equipment.
This past summer Norwich invested what must have been thousands of dollars into making the Kreitzberg Arena experience better for all.
The upgrading of the speakers makes for crisp audio quality and great volume to everyone in the rink regardless of their seat or placement in the rink, including in the lobby.
Alumni, students, faculty and friends of Norwich hockey will be pleased to know that these changes have been made. With the renovations of the audio equipment it makes for a more enjoyable, easy listening and comfortable setting for all.
