Dear ROTC scholarship students,
I am writing regarding the recent story in Seven Days, “Corps Confessions.”
I am the one responsible for the survey getting sent to you. I apologize to any of you who received the survey without a proper explanation that it was from a Seven Days reporter to be used in a story based on the survey results.
A breakdown in communication occurred. I should have sent you the link to the survey personally with a full explanation, and I did not.
I want you to know that the Norwich administration apologizes for the miscommunication. We absolutely did not intend to deceive you. On the contrary, I thought I had taken all the proper measures to make sure you all were fully informed.
My job is to get Norwich covered in the news media in the best ways I can. This seemed like a great opportunity to do what last year’s commencement speaker, ABC correspondent Martha Raddatz and the class of ’59 instructed: to bridge the gap between military and civilian cultures.
Your criticism of Andy Bromage’s method of reporting is your own, but if you feel deceived by how the survey was presented to you then I am the person to speak to.
Please accept my humble apology for the breakdown in communication. And please contact me with any feedback or questions.
Sincerely,
Daphne
